Since 2003, over 300,000 people have been killed and nearly 3 million displaced from the Darfur region of Sudan.
The International Criminal Court has charged Sudanese leaders with genocide and crimes against humanity in the region.
As a part of her commitment to raising awareness about Darfur, Kayla worked with the Save Darfur Coalition as a teenager and founded STAND and Amnesty International chapters at Northern Arizona University. The humanitarian crisis in Darfur– and ongoing inaction by influential leaders– was one of Kayla’s main focuses as a student.
